シンメトリーとアシンメトリー
神社特有の左右対称さはある種の崇高な印象を与え、左右対称の配置であるからこそ、樹木の形の違いなどの細かな変化が対比されて見えてくる。軸線である参道を歩くことで、流れる時間や移ろいゆく季節を感じることができる。
Symmetry and asymmetry
The symmetry characteristic of shrines gives a certain sublime impression, and because of the symmetrical arrangement, minute changes such as differences in the shapes of the trees can be seen in contrast.
笏谷石と斜面
斜面に桜を植えるにあたって、周辺の再開発により偶然発掘された笏谷石を使用した。安定感と存在感のある80cm角の石が並ぶ風景は、この石に古くから馴染みのある福井という土地を象徴している。
Shakudani stone and the slope
In planting the cherry trees on the slope, I used Shakudani stone that was accidentally excavated as a result of redevelopment of the surrounding area. The landscape of 80cm square stones with a sense of stability and presence symbolizes the land of Fukui, which has long been familiar with this stone.
桜
日本の象徴的な木であり、改築前にも植えてあったという枝垂れ桜を参道の中腹に配置した。社に向かいながら見上げ、参拝を終えたあとは見下ろすというように、あらゆる視点から桜を楽しむことができる。
Cherry tree
A weeping cherry tree, a symbolic Japanese tree and one that had been planted prior to the renovation, was placed in the middle of the approach. Visitors can enjoy the cherry blossoms from all perspectives, looking up at them as they face the shrine and looking down on them after they have finished praying.
