敷地は、丸岡城を望む城下町に位置している。
ここに暮らすご家族の平屋住宅を建て替え、新たな住まいを計画することになった。建て替えにあたり、これまでの生活の様子を実際に拝見する機会を得た。

ご家族への丁寧なヒアリングを重ね、土地の風土を読み取り、日々の生活の振る舞いを注意深く観察することから設計を組み立てている。小さな住宅ではあるが、広い世界へとつながる巨視的な視点と、暮らしの細部を読み取る微視的な視点の双方をもつことが有効であると考えた。

経済学の分野には、世界市場を捉える〈マクロ経済〉と個人消費に着目する〈ミクロ経済〉という概念がある。本計画ではこれにならい、〈マクロ設計〉と〈ミクロ設計〉という二つの視点から、住まい全体の構成を考えることとした。

異なるスケールの視点を併せ持つことで、多様な考え方を一つの空間の中で連想的につなぐことができる——それが建築設計の魅力であると考えている。その接続が多様で開放的であることが、豊かな住まいにつながると信じ、この家がそのような場となることを願っている。

The site is located in a castle town overlooking Maruoka Castle.
Here, a single-story house previously occupied by a family of four was replaced with a new residence. As part of the rebuilding process, we were able to closely observe the family’s former living environment.

The design was developed through repeated interviews with the family, careful reading of the local climate and context, and close observation of everyday life. Although the house is modest in scale, we considered it essential to hold both a macroscopic perspective that connects the dwelling to a wider world, and a microscopic perspective that attentively responds to the nuances of daily living.

In economics, the concepts of macroeconomics—concerned with global markets—and microeconomics—focused on individual consumption—are commonly used. Drawing from this framework, the design was organized through two complementary viewpoints: “macro design” and “micro design.”

By integrating perspectives of different scales, architecture can associate diverse ways of thinking within a single spatial composition. We believe that a home becomes richer when these connections are open and multifaceted, and we hope this house will offer such a place for living.
